Dear Parents;

I want to thank you for the opportunity to help your child understand the concepts of  science.  This year your child will be exploring the wonders of the universe, from the tiny atom to the galaxies far away.   We will dabble in a little of Earth's history and structures, its ecology, and leave the school year understanding some properties of physics.  I hope your child will be inspired by the activities planned for them.

It is my belief and research has proven that before a child learns any subject, science or otherwise, he/she must enjoy it.  Pending any unforeseen challenges, I will be introducing  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities and other thematic projects.    I hope to bring REAL LIFE applications to your child's thought processes.

Although our main focus will be on life, Earth and physical science, I will be taking your student through the process of learning for the future and preparing them for learning beyond my class.  Your child will be introduced to  proven methods and strategies to improve their study, organizational, social, critical thinking skills and test taking abilities....if used properly.  These methods are outlined in our districts AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program.  Incorporated in this methodology will be your child's ability to accept responsibility, be accountable, and understand that actions result in consequences.

For any child to be successful in learning three elements must come together (teacher, parent , community).  If one side of the triangle fails, the student fails. I've provided you with three opportunities to help me help your child.  Please take a minute to click on the buttons above and consider contributing to our mission.

I look forward to working with you and your child throughout this school year and beyond.
